CM Featured in Managed Care

Managed Care recently did an article about our study on the use of the terms "Effectiveness" and "Efficacy" and how they are often used interchangeably or even misused. Our study found that the two terms mean different things, especially when coverage decisions need to be made. Effectiveness relates to how a medication is used in a real-world setting where patient populations and other variables cannot be controlled. Efficacy relates to how a medication performs in a controlled setting.
